Emer Casey Fun Run

    The Annual Emer Casey Fun Run proudly sponsoring the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre will again take place on 27 May 2012 at Clayton Campus, Monash University in aid of Ovarian Cancer.

    This is the fifth year of the Emer Casey Fun Run in Melbourne. Irish runner, Sonia O' Sullivan, former World Champion and Olympic silver medallist will again participate to show her support for this worthy cause. Over 250 people participated last year in the race raising over $25,000 for this fantastic cause.

    When Irish Solicitor Emer Casey died of ovarian cancer in June 2006 at the age of 28, her family vowed to do all they could to help progress research into early detection of the disease known as "the silent killer". Every year in Australia around 1500 women are diagnosed with ovarian cancer and more than 850 women will die from the disease.

    The Emer Casey Foundation was established in Emer's Memory and last year over $25,000 was raised to support the Peter Mac Foundation VBCRC Cancer Genetics Program and the Kathleen Cunningham Foundation Consortium both of which focus on research into Familial Breast and Ovarian Cancer.

    Don't miss this great opportunity to run alongside the former World Champion and Olympic silver medallist over a 5km or 10km distance at Monash University, Clayton Campus. Registration begins at 8.30am with a 10.00am start for the run and the walk.
